WA6AUD published the WCDXB for 11 years, every week, without missing one. This is just one of the stories that Hugh published in the WCDXB, 26 October 1976 The DX Situation One of the Local QRPers came up the hill last week and we made the mistake of listening to him. "I've been studying this DX situation," the QRPer announced, "and I tend to believe we have over emphasized DXCC and the Honor Roll and have lost touch with the simple DX joys of other years." We had to think this over, for a bit too often we have found that what we initially hear is not what we eventually get. "Yes", we said cautiously and the QRPer was launched. "I fully believe," the QRPer continued, "that there is a need to redefine the role of DX in our lives. The DX cycles play an important part on all our lives and I really believe that a new awareness of these influences will bring about a needed renaissance of DX spirituality through the creative processes which must include the DX fantasies, dreams, rituals, contests and things evident daily on the bands as well as the well-known DX institution." We thought this over for a bit for we knew not yet where we were being lead. Finally we asked the QRPer: "Didn't you say something about the simple things of DX?" This got the QRPer on his feet. "Sure I did", he said, "and anything you understand is always simple. And if you don't understand, you believe. Just believe!" Son of a Gun!! What could we say to something like that. For the Eternal Truths often are found at the end of a tangled trail and often the words of enlightenment are obscure in their meaning. But Believe!! DX will rise again and Cycle 21 is at hand. And worry not about the thinking . . . be a doer and work the DX that comes with every new dawn! A man should keep his friendship in constant repair (Samuel Johnson (1755).
