Changes from 2006 to 2015 Entities January 2006 : Active 335, Deleted: 58, Withdrawn 9 The Yugoslavian aftermath and Montenegro (4O) After World War I, Montenegro became a part of Yugoslavia. Following the breakup of Yugoslavia, the republics of Serbia and Montenegro together proclaimed a federation. Following the independence referendum held in May 2006, Montenegro (4O) declared its independence and the confederation peacefully dissolved. QSOs with Montenegro (4O) count from June 28, 2006 for DXCC. Eventually the name of Yugoslavia in the DXCC Countries List was changed in Serbia. Why was the country of Yugoslavia not added to the Deleted List and why do counrt QSO’s with Serbia starting Novemer 15, 1945? (DX is !!) Obey the Rules of DXCC. Swains Island (KH8S) which belongs to American Samoa, became a new DXCC Entity on July 22, 2006. The IARU category was removed from the DXCC Rules. From that special date Swains Island obeyed to (Point 2b(i)) of the DXCC rules. QSOs with Swains Island (KH8S) count from July 22, 2006 for DXCC Entities January 2007: Active 337, Deleted: 58, Withdrawn 9 You could think that there would be no end to find new Entities for adding to the DXCC list. Those DXCC Searchers would never stop searching for new ones. And changing the DXCC rules, to add some strange areas as a new Entity (like Swains Island, KH8S) could also not go on and on. Only politic happenings could change the active DXCC list. In 2007 St Barthélemy (FJ) twas added to the DXCC list because of a politic reason. Until 2007, Saint-Barthélemy was, together with French Saint Martin a sub-prefecture of the department of French Guadeloupe. After a referendum, held on December 7, 2003, Saint- Barthélemy did choose for more control, direct under government of France. (same as Saint Martin). This limited autonomy was confirmed by the French parliament in 2007. The Dutch Pairlement did change the government of their possessions in the West Indies. This caused the deletion of Curacao & Bonaire, and the islands group of St Maarten, Saba & St Eustachius on October 9, 2010. QSOs with Curacao & Bonaire (PJ) count until October 9, 2010 QSOs with St Maarten, Saba & St Eustachius (PJ) count until October 9, 2010 Curacao (PJ2), Bonaire (PJ4), Saba & St Eustachius (PJ5,6) and St Maarten (PJ7) were added to the DXCC list on October 10, 2010, But QSOs with these new ones do count only after 04.00 UTC on October 10. (DX is !!) Entities January 2011: Active 340, Deleted: 60, Withdrawn 9 A very late message In 2017 ARRL announced also that the Republic of South Sudan (Z8) was a new Entity starting July 14, 2011. A bit late for an announcement of a new Entity. Politics caused this message delay. The question was; Recognition of a NEW country which was part of the old Sudan. So South Sudan was added again on the DXCC list as the Republic of South Sudan. In 1998 South Sudan became a deleted Entity because Sudan did take over the government of this part ofd the world. But the fight of several groups continued. A referendum hold in January 2011 was held to determine whether South Sudan should become an independent country and separate from Sudan. On July 9, 2011, South Sudan became the 54th independent country in Africa Since July 14, 2011, South Sudan (Z8) is the 193rd member of the United Nations. QSOs with Rep. of South Sudan count from July 14, 2011 for DXCC Entities January 2012: Active 341, Deleted: 60, Withdrawn 9 Renting Malyk Vysostksy Island finsihed Malyj Vysotskij Island got a deleted Entity on Februari 17, 2012. A new treaty was made, which did give Russia the government of the Island. The contract for renting the island counted only for fifty years, and this contract was not renewed.
